Ryan Chen is a second-year law student at Harvard Law School. Most recently, he spent four seasons in the basketball analytics group of the Orlando Magic.  He graduated from Stanford University in 2017 with a master's degree in  Management Science & Engineering, where he was a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan in 2014 with bachelor's degrees in Industrial & Operations Engineering and Euphonium Performance.

While at Stanford, Ryan was a key member of the Stanford Sports Analytics Club, contributing to competition wins at the 2017 NBA Hackathon and the 2016 Basketball Analytics Summit.

During his time at the University of Michigan, Ryan conducted research with Profs. Amy Cohn and Mark Daskin, focusing on industrial engineering applications to the aviation and healthcare industries.  Part of this work was done through the University of Michigan's Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety

Ryan has also served as the president of the University of Michigan chapters of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society and Alpha Pi Mu, the industrial engineering honor society.
